Tell us about your single “Pick Me Up.” Where did you find the inspiration to write the song?
I really wanted a fun, end-of-the-week song that everyone could sing along to. Something that captured that feeling of energy and joy that comes at the beginning of a weekend, when you can get away from it all and just have fun!
For new fans, how would you describe your sound?
Contemporary country, with a healthy dash of traditional elements mixed in. I like to keep a fun mix of the old and the new in my music!
Who is one artist that you would consider a role model? How have they shaped who you are as an artist?
Reba McEntire. Her humility and openness about her faith makes her such a role model. Not to mention her incredible voice! Reba’s talent, and her ability to excel in so many areas of the music business, is an absolute inspiration as well.
What’s one song that you wish you had written? Why?
“Peter Pan” by Kelsea Ballerini. Not only is it a beautiful song that any girl can relate to, it’s also brilliantly written. I love fairytales and fiction, and the ability to connect a well-known story like that to a true life experience is any songwriter’s dream!
What else do fans have to expect from you this year?
I’m working on the upcoming release of both a lyric video and full music video for my newest single, “Pick Me Up.” I can’t wait to share them with you!
What’s one fun fact about you that fans would be surprised to learn?
I grew up competing in Bible quiz. I learned over 500 Bible facts and scripture verses. I can recite all 66 books of the Bible in less than 25 seconds.
Lastly, what’s your favorite song that you have written and why?
It’s so difficult to pick a favorite, but “Into the Circle” does have a special place in my heart. I had the opportunity to write and record with Jamie O’Neal and Colt Ford, which is something I’ll never forget. Of course, being able to put into song my dream of singing at the Grand Ole Opry and collaborate with Jamie and Colt, who have both achieved that dream, was an amazing experience.
